Born in 1962, Stephen Palmer was brought up in Wales and in Shropshire, in the depths of rural England, an upbringing that did much to instil a love of nature and of environmental concerns. He read physics at London University then went on to do an array of 9-5 jobs. In 1992 he began making and recording ambient music with a number of friends; since then, his band Mooch have released five CD's, and his solo project Blue Lily Commission two. In 1996 his first SF novel "Memory Seed" was published, followed by "Glass" in 1997. He presently works part-time for the booksellers Waterstones, and lives with his wife and cat in the beautiful Westcountry, by the sea, where he is working on a new book and on the forthcoming Mooch album.
