Darrell Schweitzer is the author of 3 fantasy novels, THE WHITE ISLE, THE SHATTERED GODDESS, and THE MASK OF THE SORCERER (these last two available from the SF Book Club) and about 250 published stories, which have appeared in TWILIGHT ZONE, AMAZING, INTERZONE, and various anthologies and magazines since about 1970. Some of his short fiction is collected in WE ARE ALL LEGENDS, TOM O'BEDLAM'S NIGHT OUT, TRANSIENTS, REFUGEES FROM AN IMAGINARY COUNTRY, NIGHTSCAPES, NECROMANCIES AND NETHERWORLDS ( with Jason Van Hollander) and THE GREAT WORLD AND THE SMALL (forthcoming). He has been nominated for the World Fantasy Award three times, once for best novella ("To Become a Sorcerer," which became chapters 1-4 of THE MASK OF THE SORCERER) and twice for best collection (TRANSIENTS and NECROMANCIES AND NETHERWORLDS).

He won a World Fantasy Award (shared with George Scithers) for co-editing WEIRD TALES, which he continues to co-edit. He has also worked editorially on AMAZING and ISAAC ASIMOV'S SF MAGAZINE during the Scithers regimes there. He was Editor Guest of Honor at the World Horror Convention in 1997.

His non-fiction includes a wide variety of reviews, interviews, and essays, and book-length studies of H.P. Lovecraft and Lord Dunsany. Many of his best essays are collected in WINDOWS OF THE IMAGINATION, which was LOCUS notable book for 1998.

His poetry includes some of the real stuff, in his collection GROPING TOWARD THE LIGHT (2000) and various magazines, and some very silly goings-on, beginning with the pamphlet NON COMPOST MENTIS (which itself begins with a limerick rhyming "Cthulhu") up through the recent inaccurately-titled STOP ME BEFORE I DO IT AGAIN! He has no intention of stopping. The next title in this series will be THEY NEVER FOUND THE HEAD: POEMS OF SENTIMENT AND REFLECTION.
