Jason van Hollander started his career with illustration and design work for Arkham House, and followed up soon after with more exquisite illustration for such magazines as Weird Tales, Deathrealm, and Marion Zimmer Bradley's Fantasy Magazine. In addition, he has supplied interior illustrations for Joan Aiken's The Cockatrice Boys (Tor 1996), Fritz Leiber's The Dealings of Daniel Kesserich (Tor 1997), and with Darrell Schweitzer designed the incomparable Necromancies & Netherworlds (nominated for a World Fantasy award). An excellent portfolio of his black and white illustration would be the recommended De Morbis Aritificum. He has also published stories in Fantasy Magazine and Weird Tales.

In 2000 Jason won the World Fantasy Award for Best Artist.
